Above the gateway, the noble coat of arms of the Patrubány family was displayed. In the façade’s sculpted niche of the parish stood an ancient Madonna statue, referring to the patron saint of the church and parish, built in honor of the Virgin of the Assumption. The “Armenian” Madonna statue was likely evacuated to Budapest during the Romanian invasion of 1916, where it remains in private ownership today. The beautiful Baroque façade, from the mid-18th century, dominated the marketplace of the town as it was becoming more urbanized.
