My grandfather, Pál Balázs (Középajta, Covasna, 1902 – Amsterdam, Netherlands, 1985), was a journalist. At the age of four, he moved with his family to Gyergyószentmiklós. He attended the Hungarian Royal State Gymnasium (now Salamon Ernő Gymnasium). After finishing school, he studied engineering for a while at the universities of Vienna and Brno, but he ultimately found his career in journalism. In 1929, he settled in Amsterdam. In 1981, he was awarded the Order of Oranje-Nassau for his contributions to journalism.
